The Satyr's Treasure

A discovery was made on the site of ancient Greek ruins...
A secret cave hidden in the walls of a bank, filled with treasure, and guarded by a monster.

This project is a culmination of a semester's worth of world building and designing.

The project began with the development of an ancient Cycladic statue, and then the world around it.

In the second phase of the project we concepted what the idol would look like with a body. Because I chose to make a goat head, it only made sense to develop a Satyr body.

All of this was done with Autodesk products and was rendered in Unreal Engine 5

Part 1 - The Idol

The first part of the assessment was researching and developing an idol, inspired by Indiana Jones, and themed after the ancient Cycladic People.

For my piece I decided to subvert the traditional human-idols and went for a goat one instead.

We also had to develop a scene for the idol in UE5. I chose a small cave filled with farming tools. Perhaps the idol was made for in honour of a beloved goat...

Part 2A -
The Satyr

The second assessment was done in two parts: turning the idol into a guardian, and redeveloping the environment with segments.

My concept for the guardian would be a Satyr, fitting the them of the goat and Greek mythology. This would then be rigged and animated in mixamo.

Part 2B -
The Bank

I enjoyed this part of the assessment. Using Unreal Engine's Quixel Bridge, I developed a new scene: a hidden passage behind an ancient bank.

There were some assets I could not find, and ended up making myself. This included grandiose tapestry representing the bank, and a carpet below the centrepiece: the Idol!
